Borrow a variety of materials from OPL with your library card
With a library card, you can access a wide range of materials including thousands of books, eBooks, DVDs and CDs, as well as Wi-Fi hotspots, Book Club Kits, and more.
How to Borrow Items
Use your OPL library card and PIN number to borrow materials and holds at our branches or OPL Express locations. A PIN number is assigned when you register for a card. The default PIN is the last four digits of the telephone number you provided at registration.
How to Return Items
Return materials to any OPL library branch at our external or internal return stations during hours of operation. Oversized items must be returned during branch hours to the service desk or at designated return bins when in-person service is unavailable. Please call your local branch for assistance.
Loan Periods
Loan periods vary based on item type and demand. Receipts listing due dates are available at checkout.
How to renew items
You can renew items online, by calling a branch, or in-person. Alternatively, you can call our automated telephone system at 905-815-5996.
OPL also offers a courtesy renewal where eligible items will be automatically renewed on their due date. The auto renewal will only apply if the item meets the qualifications as per OPL's Limits and Fees and the library card is not blocked.
My OPL
Log in to manage your library account online through our website or through the My OPL app. Once signed in, you can:
- Request, cancel, or check the status of your holds
- Monitor due dates and overdue items
- Request renewals on items already borrowed
- Update your account information
