Councillor Jeff Knoll
Councillor Jeff Knoll has served as Oakville’s Ward 5 Regional and Town Councillor since he was first elected in 2000 and has been re-elected in the subsequent four elections. Councillor Knoll is also the founder and chief executive officer of Film.Ca Cinemas (formerly Encore Cinemas) in Oakville.
During his tenure at the Town of Oakville and Region of Halton, Councillor Knoll has served on almost every committee and board within the municipality. He currently serves as a member of the Halton Police Services Board, the Oakville Public Library Board, the Oakville Administrative Services Committee, the Halton Health and Social Services Committee, and the Halton Community Housing Corporation Board.
In addition to his current committee and board experience, Jeff has served on the board of Halton Health Care Services Corporation, the Halton Children’s Aid Society, the Oakville & Milton Humane Society, and was both a board member and president of the Halton Community Housing Corporation for more than five years.
Outside of his Council responsibilities, Jeff is a member of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce and is an active volunteer with the Oak Park Neighbourhood Centre, where his wife Michelle is the executive director. He is also a long time member, former chairman and sponsor of 1st Trafalgar Scouts, as well as a founding member and volunteer with the Trafalgar Township Historical Society.
Jeff majored in political science and communication studies (film and television) at the University of Windsor, and continues to study in many areas of interest including municipal affairs and quality service.
Jeff and his wife, Michelle, live in Oak Park and have five children, two grandchildren and a rambunctious rescue beagle named Roxas.
Mark Bettiol is a new resident to Oakville and busy father of two! Mark’s career includes over 10 years in operations, sales and marketing positions with leading technology companies. Mark brings experience in helping companies maintain market leadership through innovation, planning and sound execution. During his career, Mark has successfully built strategic marketing plans and developed products that facilitate market penetration domestically and internationally. He most recently served as product head for a leading global company in legal and risk information solutions.
In addition to his professional career, Mark volunteers with local charity organizations to help organize events, promote awareness and fundraise. He has also participated with local organization Junior Achievement to teach young students basic business skills. More recently, Mark assisted a Hamilton entrepreneur to give back to the community with a Christmas program for poverty stricken inner city children.
Pankaj Sardana has over 30 years of experience in the energy sector with the past 17 years at the executive level. Mr. Sardana gained his energy sector experience with The Ontario Ministry of Energy, The Consumers’ Gas Company, Ontario Hydro, the Independent Electricity System Operator, Toronto Hydro Corporation, Ontario Power Generation, and Guelph Hydro.
Mr. Sardana has in-depth knowledge of finance and financial markets, regulatory affairs, treasury operations, electricity markets and rate structures, rate design, load forecasting, and conservation and demand management. Mr. Sardana has a master’s degree in economics from the University of Waterloo, and is a chartered financial analyst.
A highly experienced communications professional, Steven has worked with a variety of non-profit, private sector and government organizations for more than 20 years. These include BMO Financial, TSX Group, the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation and CBC Sports. A self-employed communications consultant and writer since 2011, Steven helps his clients strategically articulate and project their voice in the public dialogue.
Active in the Oakville community, Steven was director and then vice president of government relations and policy for the Oakville Chamber of Commerce for three years. He volunteers with the Oakville Community Foundation, and was a coach with the Oakville Soccer Club for many years.
Born in Oakville, Steven has degrees from McGill University [B.A. (Hons), History], Western University [M.A., Journalism], and The Royal Military College of Canada [M.A., War Studies]. He completed the Canadian Securities Course and the Ivey Business School course in Strategic Investor Relations. Steven and his wife are raising their two daughters in the River Oaks area.
