What's happening at the library in June

Enjoy free programs and activities at the library commemorating Indigenous History Month, Pride Month and Seniors Month.

We're kicking off the summer season with lots of programs for everyone to enjoy. Here's a glimpse of what's coming up.

*Note that program availability, dates and times are subject to change. Always visit for our calendar and subscribe to our enewsletter at for weekly updates right to your email inbox.

National Indigenous History Month

Oakville Public Library is situated on Treaty #14 and Treaty #22 lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat and the Haudenosaunee. Oakville is currently home to many different First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a time to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis. We encourage the community to learn and explore the voices and stories of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. OPL has a wide variety of resources and booklists to help you learn more about Indigenous history, experiences and talented artists and writers.

Pride Month

OPL actively centres and celebrates 2SLGBTQ+ voices and experiences through our programming and library services

Seniors Month

June is Seniors Month in Ontario, a time to recognize the contributions and vibrancy of older adults in our community.

It's almost time for OPL's Summer Reading Challenge!

Join us on June 22-23 and July 3, to kick-off and celebrate the start of the summer reading programs at the library. This year's theme is "Out of This World" and we'll be hosting three days of amazing fun with special glow-in-the-dark parties and many activities for the whole family to enjoy.
