New Central Branch Public Engagement Reports Released
In August 2024, Oakville Public Library (OPL) announced an exciting and transformative project: the building of a New Central Branch in the heart of downtown Oakville. To ensure this space reflects the needs and aspirations of the Oakville community, OPL invited residents to share their ideas through a public survey and engagement sessions, held in the fall.
We are pleased to share the results of these sessions in the newly released Engagement Summary Reports, which reflect the voices and vision of the Oakville community.
Highlights from the reports include:
- Over 1,000 survey submissions
- Consultations with Indigenous community members
- Discussions at a Public Open House
- Staff engagement sessions
- Children’s engagement sessions during library programs

What's next?
The journey to create the New Central Branch continues! In the spring, OPL will release a new survey and host an Open House to share the building’s concept design and ensure that the New Central Branch is on the right track. OPL will also hold additional consultations with Indigenous community members.
