Display and Distribution of Community Information

Oakville Public Library (OPL) supports the display and distribution of information to the community by posting approved information materials through its channels, including community bulletin boards, brochure displays, and online. All materials must be approved by Information Oakville before posting.

Eligible materials include those from:

  • Non-profit organizations
  • Significant cultural initiatives
  • Topics of high community interest or need

Requirements:

  • Content must be relevant to the local community and include all necessary details.
  • Local community interest takes priority.
  • Materials must comply with all applicable laws, including the Ontario Human Rights Code.
  • Content should promote free, public, educational, cultural, or community events and services that are non-discriminatory.
  • 8 ½” x 11” size requirement for in-branch bulletin boards

Approval is subject to OPL’s Display and Distribution Policy and space availability. Approval does not guarantee posting.

Public Outdoor Bulletin Boards

The town has seven outdoor bulletin boards located throughout the community that allow the Oakville community to post information. Posting of information can be done by an individual and does not require prior approval by the town. The town has the right to remove any material that it deems unsuitable.

The locations of the outdoor community bulletin boards are:

  • Town Square (George Street at Lakeshore Road)
  • Bronte Boardwalk
  • Kerr Street at Normandy Place
  • Central Library (120 Navy Street)
  • Town Hall (1225 Trafalgar Road)
  • River Oaks Community Centre (2400 Sixth Line)
  • Glen Abbey Community Centre (1415 Third Line)
