Freedom to Read Week
Oakville Public Library is celebrating Freedom to Read Week, an annual event that encourages Canadians to reflect on and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom.
Public libraries play a crucial role in protecting books and other materials from censorship. By ensuring access to a diverse range of knowledge, ideas, and opinions, libraries help uphold democracy. This is more important than ever in today’s information-driven world.
Stay tuned for more information and in branch activations!

Thank You
Thanks to the generosity of our community, Oakville Public Library raised $10,000 through the 2025 GIVEOakville campaign, presented by the Oakville Community Foundation.
We gratefully acknowledge the donations from the Adrian and Mary Coote Family Trust, Vital Community Fund Holders, Frank and Azniv Lochan Family Foundation, and the Larry & Gerry Wilson Family Fund, and the entire Oakville Community Foundation for making this possible.
This funding will directly support Indigenous initiatives thoughtfully shaped by Indigenous Knowledge Guide, Stephen Paquette. Stephen’s leadership continues to help Oakville Public Library deepen our understanding, expand community learning opportunities, and uphold our commitment to truth, reconciliation, and meaningful relationship building.
For more information on how to support OPL, visit opl.ca/donate.
Family Day Holiday
Glen Abbey Branch and Iroquois Ridge Branch will be open on Family Day (Monday, February 16) from 10am - 2pm.
