Treaties Recognition Week

The first full week of November is designated as Treaties Recognition Week in Ontario. This annual commemoration was launched in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. It aims to honour the importance of treaties and helps students and residents of Ontario learn more about treaty rights and relationships. It represents one of many steps on Ontario’s journey of healing and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.

 How can you take part?

Remembrance Day and Veterans Week

Lest we forget.

From November 5-11, Canadians are encouraged to remember and honour the sacrifice of the many who have fallen in the service of their country and acknowledge the courage of those who still serve.

On November 11 at 11am, all Oakville Public Library branches will observe two minutes of silence as we honour all Canadian service members.
