Discover OPL

Libraries have evolved into much more than just buildings full of books – they are cultural hubs, meeting places, and spaces for learning and growth. The role of the Oakvile Public Library (OPL) is pivotal in helping connect our customers to the world-at-large, spark innovation and growth in our community.

Here is a list of things may not know you have access to as an OPL card holder

No Overdue Fines - OPL has permanently shifted to a fine-free model, encouraging barrier-free access to literacy for all.

Sports Lending Kits - In an effort to encourage physical literacy, OPL has a variety of sports kits to help the community explore new physical activities at no cost.

Lifejackets for Loan - Lifejackets are available at OPL branches in infant, child, youth and adult sizes during the warmer months.

Loanable Technology - Laptops, tablets, wifi-hotspots and children's technology are available at all OPL branches on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Seed Library - Every spring OPL offers free seed packets at all branches to help you start your yearly garden, along with an online growing and harvesting guide.

Free Access to Premium Online Resources - OPL cardholders have free online access to several online resources including LinkedIn Learning, Creativebug, Ancestry.com, PressReader and more.

StoryWalks - In partnership with the Town of Oakville, OPL has set up interactive stories for you to enjoy as you stroll through select community parks.

Park Passes - OPL offers two types of loanable park passes so you can explore Conservation Halton parks and Oakville parks at not cost.

Friendly Finds - At every OPL branch, you can find a few shelves of previously loved materials available for sale at discounted prices.
