Poetry Month
April is Poetry Month
Celebrate Poetry Month with OPL!
Since 1998, National Poetry Month has united Canadians in a shared love for the written word. Founded by the League of Canadian Poets, this month-long celebration shines a spotlight on poetry’s unique role in our culture and communities. Every April, libraries like OPL join schools, publishers, booksellers, and poets nationwide to honour the beauty, diversity, and impact of poetry. Come explore the magic of verse with us — there's something for every reader, writer, and dreamer!
Poem in Your Pocket Day
Visit us in-branch on April 24 for Poem in Your Pocket Day, an exciting international celebration held in the final weeks of National Poetry Month. Choose a poem, carry it with you, and share it wherever you go—coffee shops, workplaces, or even on social media with the hashtag #PocketPoem.
